  31 <H1>2.3 Layout</H1>
  32 <P>The main window consists of four areas, the <A HREF="2_5_folder_pane.html">folder
  33 pane</A>, <A HREF="2_4_file_pane.html">file pane</A>, <A HREF="2_6_image_pane.html">image
  34 pane</A>, and the <A HREF="2_7_status_bar.html">status bar</A>. The
  35 status bar is always at the bottom of the window. The three remaining
  36 areas, or panes, can be arranged and sized by the user.</P>
  37 <P><U>Selecting the location of each pane</U></P>
  38 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The arrangement of the folder, file,
  39 and image pane is selected on the <A HREF="10_3_window.html">Windows
  40 tab</A> of the Options window. There are four choices for the layout,
  41 the difference is that each has the larger pane in a different
  42 location: right, bottom, left, and top.</P>
  43 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The order in which the panes are
  44 filled is determined by the three row list located below the layout
  45 selection. The three numbered rows correspond to the three numbered
  46 regions of the selected layout, to change the order of the list drag
  47 a row to the desired location within the list. To drag a row move the
  48 mouse over the selected row, press and hold the primary mouse button,
  49 then drag the row to the desired location and release the button.</P>
  50 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; text-decoration: none"><I>Note: In the
  51 options window the file and image panes are labeled similarly,
  52 however the folder pane is labeled as tools.</I></P>
  53 <P><U>Changing the size of a pane</U></P>
  54 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Between the panes of the main window
  55 are two dividers that can be moved with the mouse to adjust the size
  56 of each pane. Press and hold the primary button, then move the
  57 divider to the desired location and release the button.</P>
  58 <P><B>Folder pane</B></P>
  59 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The <A HREF="2_5_folder_pane.html">folder
  60 pane</A> contains the menu bar, tool bar, path entry, and folder
  61 list. The list can be set to display the sub folders of the active
  62 folder or a tree that starts with the root folder and contains all
  63 folders in the file system.</P>
  64 <P><B>File pane</B></P>
  65 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The <A HREF="2_4_file_pane.html">file
  66 pane</A> lists the images contained in the active folder. The file
  67 pane can be set to display as a vertical list or an icon view.</P>
