  32 <P>The folder pane contains the menu bar, tool bar, path entry, and

  46 often used operations. The tool bar can be hidden or shown by
  47 selecting &ldquo;Hide toolbar&rdquo; from the view menu.

  50 buttons are only displayed as an icon, the text below refers to the
  51 tool tip that appears by hovering the mouse over each button.</I></P>
  52 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Show thumbnails:</B> This button is
  53 active when the file list is in list view mode, and activating it
  54 will toggle the display of thumbnails.</P>
  55 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Change to home folder:</B> Change
  56 the main window to display the contents of the user's home folder.</P>
  57 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Refresh file list:</B> This will
  58 check for changes to the active folder and update the window.</P>
  59 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Zoom in:</B> Increase the image
  60 display size.</P>
  61 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Zoom out:</B> Decrease the image
  62 display size.</P>
  63 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Fit image to window:</B> This will
  64 size the image to fit within the image view.</P>
  65 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Set zoom 1:1:</B> Restore zoom to
  66 the image's original size.</P>
  67 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Configure options:</B> Displays the
  68 <A HREF="10_options.html">Options window</A>.</P>

  70 folder pane, file pane, and status bar between the main window and a
  71 secondary window.</P>

  75 entry</FONT></FONT></P>
  76 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">This displays the active folder of the
  77 window and allows typing a location.</P>
  78 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">A folder or file can be typed into the
  79 entry to quickly change to a desired location or image, the main
  80 window will update after pressing the Enter key. Tab completion is
  81 also available in the path entry.</P>
  82 <P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><I>Note: Tab completion uses the tab
  83 key, press the down arrow to move the focus from the entry.</I></P>
  84 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Next to the path entry is a button
  85 with a down arrow, clicking this will display a drop down list
  86 containing the most recent locations viewed. The list is ordered such
  87 that the most recent location is at the top. Selecting a location
  88 from the drop down list will change the window to display the
  89 location.</P>

  94 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">This displays a list of sub folders
  95 contained in the active folder, or a tree that includes all folders
  96 in the file system.</P>
  97 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">A <B>context menu</B> can be displayed
  98 by clicking the right mouse button on the folder pane or pressing the
  99 menu key while the folder pane has the focus</P>
 100 <P><U>List view</U></P>
 101 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">This mode can be enabled by
 102 unselecting &ldquo;Tree&rdquo; from the View menu, pressing Control +
 103 T, or unselecting &ldquo;View as tree&rdquo; from the context menu.</P>
 104 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The list view mode displays sub
 105 folders contained in the active folder in a standard vertical list.
 106 The parent folder can be selected with the folder named &ldquo;..&rdquo;.</P>
 107 <P><U>Tree view</U></P>
 108 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">This mode can be enabled by selecting
 109 &ldquo;Tree&rdquo; from the View menu, pressing Control + T, or
 110 selecting &ldquo;View as tree&rdquo; from the context menu.</P>
 111 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The tree view mode displays all
 112 folders in the file system, starting with the root folder and
 113 branching out to include sub folders. A folder branch can be expanded
 114 or collapsed by clicking the expander next to each folder icon, or by
 115 pressing the respective &ldquo;+&rdquo; or &ldquo;-&rdquo; keys when
 116 the folder branch has the focus.</P>
 117 <P><U>Sorting</U></P>
 118 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The order of the folder names will
 119 match the order selected for the file pane. Sort order can be changed
 120 by clicking the sort area of the status bar or from the context menu
 121 of the file pane.</P>
 122 <P><U>Context menu</U></P>
 123 <P>Right clicking the mouse or pressing the menu key while the folder
 124 pane has focus will display a menu. The menu functions will perform
 125 the same as those that match the window's <A HREF="2_2_menus.html">menu
 126 bar</A>, however a few functions are unique to the context menu:</P>
 127 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Up to parent:</B> This will change
 128 the window to display the contents of the parent folder.</P>
 129 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Slide show:</B> Start a <A HREF="8_1_slideshow.html">slide
 130 show</A> that contains all images in the selected folder.</P>
 131 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Slide show recursive:</B> Start a
 132 <A HREF="8_1_slideshow.html">slide show</A> that contains all images
 133 in the selected folder, and all images in the sub folders of that
 134 folder.</P>
 135 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Find duplicates:</B> This will open
 136 a new <A HREF="5_2_finding_duplicates.html">find duplicates</A>
 137 window containing all images in the selected folder.</P>
 138 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Find duplicates recursive:</B> This
 139 will open a new <A HREF="5_2_finding_duplicates.html">find duplicates</A>
 140 window containing all image in the selected folder, and all images in
 141 the sub folders of that folder.</P>
 142 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>New folder:</B>
 143 Creates a new folder that is a sub folder of the selected folder.</P>
 144 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>Rename:</B>
 145 Renames the selected folder.</P>
 146 <P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in; font-weight: medium"><I>Note: Renaming
 147 a folder will not update metadata, such as keywords, or cached
 148 thumbnails for images contained in that folder, the data will be
 149 lost.</I></P>
 150 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>View as tree:</B>
 151 Toggles between the list and tree modes of the folder pane.</P>
 152 <P><U>Drag and drop</U></P>
 153 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">Image files can be dropped onto
 154 folders displayed in the folder pane. A menu will appear allowing you
 155 to select to move or copy the dropped images into the target folder.
 156 The list will automatically scroll up or down when the drag pointer
 157 is near the respective top or bottom of the list. When in tree mode,
 158 hovering over a folder for a brief period of time will expand that
 159 folder.</P>
 160 <P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in">The folders can used as a drag source
 161 for drag and drop, for example to add images in a folder to a
 162 collection window. However drag and drop can not be used to move or
 163 copy folders in Geeqie.</P>
